Blog Post 4!!!!

I have been using Twitter for what feels like forever. I created one in the 8th grade and have been using it ever since. I really enjoy twitter because I think it's different than other social media platforms that are popular today. Not only is it easy to connect with people, but it makes it so easy to keep up to date on the news and what is going on in the world. I think Twitter would be very useful in my career as a teacher. It creates a discussion board online where students can share things they find interesting, funny, or have thoughts with/against. Not only is it great for students, but also parents. Tweeting takes only a few seconds, so teachers can quickly and regularly tweet out updates for parents!

The digital divide is the divide between people who have access to any form of technology and those that do not have access. Some students may live in rural areas where there is no internet accessibility or they can not afford technology, so while they may be able to use it at school, they can't when they're at home. I think the digital divide can seriously impact a student. Those students who don't have access at home may not become as proficient in using the technology as the students who do. I believe the digital divide will slowly dwindle because in today's society most everyone has some form of technology, whether it be brand new or not.

Academic software can help take teaching to the next level. Two academic softwares that I would implement into my future classroom are a smart board and Edsby. A smart board makes learning interactive and fun. I liked whenever my teachers would use them because it was different than just writing on a white board or taking notes on paper. Edsby is a very good tool. I used it all throughout high school. Edsby is a software for grade management, similar to canvas. It allows parents and student to see grades as they are imputed and see any upcoming assignments. It is a great tool to keep teachers and students organized and up to date.
